PTO Thanks You!

The PTO would like to extend a thank you to:

Andrea Macina, Jessica Akaah, and TJ Brown, for dreaming up and organizing the Family Fun Night in conjunction with the Park District last year. The new event took a lot of time to plan, and it turned out to be an awesome way to kick off summer with staff, family and friends.

Jessica Adams, Erica Marinello, Kori Pierce, Joanna Soukoulis, Tara Subeck, & Eva Vlad, Andrea Macina, Jessica Akaah, and TJ Brown, for dreaming up and organizing the Family Fun Night in conjunction with the Park District last year. The new event took a lot of time to plan, and it turned out to be an awesome way to kick off summer with staff, family and friends.

Jessica Adams, Erica Marinello, Kori Pierce, Joanna Soukoulis, Tara Subeck, & Eva Vlad, for being a supportive and “all-hands-on-deck” executive board. The PTO’s ship is in good shape thanks to you all.

Joanna Soukoulis, for finding and informing a stellar crew of room parents for every grade. Thank you also to the Room Parents who have volunteered. Your time and efforts make these fun days so special for our children!

Darragh Blachno, April Toofan, & Wendy Sawtell, for finding volunteers to staff the lunchrooms and creating a schedule that works with many different moving pieces. This is no easy feat! Thank you also to the lunchroom volunteers, who the lunchroom depends on to run smoothly. Our children love seeing your smiling faces every day!

Jessica Akaah, for keeping our accounts in order over the summer and wrapping up the books at the end of the fiscal year. You are one smart cookie, and we are incredibly grateful for your many, many hours of work as our Chief Treasurer last year.

Seong McGarry & Kendra Chilewich, for working with teachers to determine what should go in the school supply kits, ordering the supplies for both schools, and distributing the kits to the classrooms. Your organization skills knocked this one out of the park! Thank you also to the amazing team of volunteers for helping to distribute the kits: Bianca Rose, Sarah Crawford, Stacy Fitzgerald, Ilana Friedel, Ellen Knight, Penny Lai, Katie LaVarre, Andrea Macina, Soo Moon, Caroline Murokh and April Toofan, as well as many children who also came to lend a helping hand!

Laura Phillips & Nancy Detlefsen, for organizing and executing a beautiful and delicious back-to-school fiesta for teachers and staff. Thank you also to Ruth Baxter for helping to set up and clean up the luncheon. The work of these three ladies made everything run so smoothly. Thank you also to those who added to the amazing dessert table!

Megan Waite & Melissa Daley, for working through the details to plan this year’s book fair. We are so looking forward to this fan-favorite event!

Tara Subeck, for purchasing gifts for the teachers who were celebrating 20 and 30 years in our district. They felt so appreciated!

Amy Allen & Katie Rooney, for matching the new families with mentor families to make sure everyone is welcomed in our district. Thank you also to Amy Allen & Katie and Patrick Rooney for putting together such a beautiful breakfast spread for the Kindergarten parents on the first day of school.

Ana Miyares & Christie Caceres, for working to ensure the directory is up to date and has current information for all families in the district. So many of us rely on the MySchoolAnywhere app—thank you!

Tom Whittaker & Venessa Matuschka, for researching and planning wonderful programs, assemblies and author visits for our students. We can’t wait to see what’s in store!

Bianca Rose & Julie Buzza, for keeping all of us updated on everything PTO related via Facebook, Instagram and the PTO website.

Kerri Melzl, for making our entrances look so beautiful at both schools. Your hard work makes our schools a welcoming place year round!

Cheri Tracy & Gail Belian, for putting together the details of our 6th grade social dance program. I’m sure our 6th graders are looking forward to getting started!

Sarah Wilson, Stacy Fitzgerald & Aimee Keefer, for jumping right in and hosting a back-to-school ice cream social on the first day of school for our 8th graders. This is such a special year for our graduating students, and they couldn’t be in better hands with these three leading the way.
