Middlefork Green Guardians Club

Funds were approved for a joint request between Middlefork staff and parent to create a Middlefork environmental club named the Green Guardians. The club will encourage students to develop environmental empathy and passions for environmental sustainability and knowledge about the workings of environmental systems. Every year, students of this club will decide on which projects they would like to work on together over the course of the school year. This particular funding request is to provide the teacher stipend and jump-start the club with their first project - the Lunchroom Composting Initiative. Led by the Green Guardians, and with support from the PTO parent lunchroom volunteers and the local Go Green Northfield volunteer group Middlefork can divert thousands of pounds of food waste from the dump to compost that will be beneficial to the earth.
