Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful break and are rested and ready to take on 2026. There is no shortage of fun events ahead of us so there’s plenty for all of us to be excited about!

“Ski-In” to BINGO Night — Tickets On Sale! ⛷️

Bundle up and join the fun at the PTO’s first-ever Ski-In to Bingo Night on Friday, January 30 at Sunset Ridge School! Bring the whole family for an evening of BINGO games, awesome prizes, treats and winter fun with our D29 community. Family tickets are available here. Tickets are going fast, so reserve your spot today!


SRS Jr. High Mixer 🪩

All 6-8th grade students are invited to the first SRS Mixer on January 23 from 7-9pm in the Sunset Ridge gym. Have your kids grab their favorite jersey, lace up their sneakers, and get ready to dance the night away! We’ve got awesome music, cool vibes, and a ton of fun surprises in store! There is a $10/student entry fee (details in registration form). Register your child here


6th Grade Social Dance 🕺💃🏼 

Let's Dance! Quickly approaching is the time-honored tradition of Sixth Grade Social Dance. Sponsored by the PTO, your 6th grader will take part in two sessions of professional dance instruction and have time to hang with their peers in a social setting. Dance dates are February 20th and February 27. Dinner will be served prior to the dances in the SRS cafeteria. PTO co-chairs Emily LeMire, Sara Thompson, and Erin Dotzler are working on pricing for the food portion of the event and will be in touch along with reminders for attire, volunteer sign up, and attendance. 


January Takeout Tuesday – Save the Date! 🍔🍟 

Join us on Tuesday, January 20 for our monthly Shop & Dine with D29 fundraiser! This month we’re heading out for burgers and fries at Epic Burger (Willow Festival location). They’ll be donating 25% of sales back to the PTO. 


Middlefork STEAM Night — Save the Date! 🔬

Join us on February 25 from 5:30-6:30pm at Middlefork for an evening of carnival-themed STEAM activities. Teachers and volunteers will be staffing stations with hands-on activities for students and their parents to explore. Registration information and volunteer sign-up forms will be coming next month!  


International Night – Save the Date! 🌎

We are excited to organize International Night again this year. Join us on Wednesday, March 18 at 6:00pm at Sunset Ridge for an evening of cultural exploration and fun. All families are invited to represent any country or culture from around the world; this could be your family's culture or simply a country you know and love. If you’re interested in hosting a country booth, please complete this form by January 28, 2026. Email carolyn@alumni.nd.edu with questions.

A Message from the Northfield Park District

Please visit the Northfield Park District website for information on the Outdoor Ice Rink, Daddy Daughter and Mom/Son events, the upcoming 2026 Summer Camp information, details on winter classes starting January 12th, and Day Off Field Trips on January 19th, February 12th, February 13th, and February 16th. Grab a Fitness Center membership and enjoy convenient, local workout options right at the Community Center.

A Message from Go Green Northfield

Packing Peanuts Recycling — Back by popular demand! Bring your clean, dry, and bagged packing peanuts to the Northfield Community Center vestibule through January 17th and drop them in the marked bin. GGNF will deliver them to EcoShip, a Chicago non-profit, to redistribute to area small businesses for reuse. 



SHOUTOUTS AND THANK YOUS


Middlefork Book Fair co-chairs Lydia Fields and Mekhala Middleton (and Mrs. Johnson) for all their hard work in planning a wildly successful book fair that brought in $2,460 for the PTO that will go towards all our great programs for students.


Read-A-Palooza co-chairs Bridget Kennedy and Maria Mastroianni for organizing and running the hot cocoa bar at Sunset Ridge along with some great volunteers. Thanks for helping to provide a treat to the students during this fun afternoon of reading to kick off winter break.


Holiday Project co-chairs Shiva Seth, Maggie Yocom-Piatt, Carma Pagni, and Julie Aiello for working with the Dedicated Dolphins to deliver their food drive donations to Connections for the Homeless and provide a popsicle party for all Middlefork students for reaching their goal.
